Phonics at Stoneyholme

In the Early Years Foundation Stage, children undertake daily phonics sessions. These are delivered through a structured, synthetic phonics programme incorporating fun and engaging activities to develop children's reading and writing skills. School follows the DFE programme 'Letters and Sounds'. This is supported by our phonics based guided and home reading programmes.

At Stoneyholme Primary we follow the DFE 'Letter and sounds' scheme of work. This is supported by our own creation of actions to help our children to learn the sounds. Children are split into small, differentiated groups that are highly flexible to allow progression through the phonics phases.
