OCTOBER UPDATES

Dear parents and carers,

Firstly, I would like to say how immensely proud I am of ALL of the children in school.  The way they have settled into school, learning and following new routines and ways of working is astounding.  You have had the opportunity to speak to your child’s teacher and had an individual report regarding their transition, something I know many of you have really appreciated.  From the very youngest children in Reception to the oldest in Year 6, their behaviour and attitudes are truly outstanding and it is a privilege to work in this school with them as our pupils.

At the time of writing this, I am very pleased and grateful to share that we have had no reported cases of COVID-19 in school.  This has meant that all bubbles have had 7 and a-half weeks of uninterrupted learning.  With the recorded cases still being extremely high in Burnley, it is likely that we will have cases in the future so please make sure you read text messages, emails and look on our website regularly for any important updates and helpful information.  We will also be keeping all current arrangements the same until there is a significant drop in the threat levels.  If your child is tested positive over the holiday, please email school immediately so we can take any necessary action.

It appears that some families are still not accessing their emails.  Our system shows when emails have been delivered and the date and time they are opened.  The Admin Team have contacted those families who have not opened their emails in order to identify any issues.  If you have not been contacted, but are still experiencing problems, please email school.  If you change your email address, please notify school immediately so we can update our records.

Schools still have a great deal of catching up to do, but our children have made tremendous progress so far this term.  The children’s home learning and in particular, excellent attendance has made a significant contribution to this.  This half term, our attendance has been well above the national average at 96.1%! Thank you for sending your child into school ready to learn.  I am very much looking forward to this rate of progress continuing for the rest of the year.

Finally, I would like to thank the children for being so amazing, our staff for continuing to go above and beyond, under extremely challenging circumstances both personally and professionally and to you for your support, patience and understanding as we all come to terms with this time of change and inevitable anxiety that this situation brings.

Wishing you all a restful break, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 2nd November.

Lisa Davison
