The 2 steps we need to get the correct answer are as follows.
- Divide the number by the denominator.
- Multiply the answer of step 1 by the numerator.
Let’s work together to work out the answers for the 2 questions above.
Step 1 was to divide 12 by 6. This gives us the answer 2.
Step 2 requires us to multiply 2 by our numerator (5).
2 x 5 = 10
Step 1 was to divide 12 by 4. This gives us the answer 3.
Step 2 requires us to multiply 3 by our numerator (3).
3 x 3 = 9
