Today we are going to take a step backwards and make sure we understand lines of symmetry.

 

Lines of symmetry appear in all shapes. We make note of them most when we talk about 2D shapes.

 

The lines of symmetry are imaginary lines that a shape has that would split the shape in half. Each half would be identical to the other. 

 

If you were to split a shape in half and both sides were not identical then this would not be classed as a line of symmetry.

Be careful with your maths 2Do today think whether both sides are identical or not. If not then it is not a line of symmetry.

 

Go onto Purple Mash and complete the 'Lines of Symmetry' 2Do.
