Today we are going to look at the nets of 3D shapes.

 

The net of a 3D shape is what it looks like if it is opened out flat. A net can be folded up to make a 3D shape. There may be several possible nets for one 3D shape. You can draw a net on paper, then fold it into the shape.

 

Thinking about what we looked at yesterday knowing the faces of a 3D shape can help us identify the shape by using the net

Have a look at the following nets. See if you can work out what shape would be made if we folded the edges.
