LC- To multiply decimals.

Today we are going to carry on multiplying decimals. It is quite easy if you follow instructions.

Have a look at the following problem. How would you solve it.

My friend says they can use number bonds to break apart 1.2 to multiply more easily. Is this true? How can we break apart the number?

You may have another way to do this.

Let's look at how my friend did it.

What if the number wasn't 1.2 but 1.02. Can we show both methods to do that? My friend says they can change 1.02 into 102⁄100. Is this correct? Is this the correct number of hundredths? How can we be sure? What is 102⁄100 × 8? How would we write that as a decimal?

Let's learn again.

Now try the guided practice. Work the answers out in your book using the method you prefer.

Then EMAIL YOU ANSWERS BY TYPING THEM IN THE EMAIL. DO NOT SEND A PICTURE!

When you have done this, go onto SeeSaw to complete the Maths  NO Problem work. It is called Multiplying decimals (Tues).
