What sort of things do we use? 

 

Let's remind ourselves about what you learnt about mass when you were in Year 1.

Let's look at today's problem.

 

 

That's right we have to read the numbers on the scales.

We are going to measure the mass or weight of objects using the measurement kilogrammes or kilos.

 

Let's look at the first question together. Look carefully at the numbers on the scales. Which number is the pointer pointing at.

 

 

What is the mass of the coconut?

 

That's right it's 2kg.
