LC: To be able to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number.
Let's start with the In Focus task.
What different ways can you solve this problem?
Method 1 - 4 boxes with 12 doughnuts in each box.
So you can add 12 four times: 12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 48.
Method 2 - using times tables 12 x 4
12 can be partitioned into 10 and 2.
10 x 4 = 40
2 x 4 = 8
Add the answers together 40 + 8 = 48
20 x 8 =
2 x 8 = 16 x 10= 160
Now
21 x 8 =
20 x 8 = 160
1 x 8 = 8
Add the answers together, which makes 168.

Now complete the times tables on the next two pages.
