Multiplication

To begin this lesson, have a look at the In Focus task. How many ways are there to count the number of flowers? Write two different ways in your maths jotter, or in your blended learning book. Remember that all your answers are important. Perhaps you counted on from 3, or counted them all or perhaps you drew a number line.

Did anyone think of using multiplication to solve the problem? Because the flowers are grouped into 3 in each box. How could this be helpful? We can count in threes. Count in threes now! We can also say that there are 4 groups of 3, which gives us 12.
4 × 3 = 12

What  are 3 groups of 3? What are 2 groups of 3? What is 1 group of 3?
That is

3 x 3 = 9, 2 x 3 = 6, 1 x 3 = 3

Try and learn your 3 x table.

Look at the different pictures to help you to understand the 3 x table.

Work out these calculations using the pictures above to support you.

Now complete the workbook pages in your book at school, or in your blended learning book at home.

Click on the pictures to make them larger.😀
