LC: To write an opening paragraph that combines setting and character.

Today, you are going to begin writing your fantasy story using your boxed-up plan. 

You will need the introduction part of your plan in order to do this.

Before you begin, orally retell the beginning part your story so you know what it must include. You can then work on the extra detail when you come to write it. 

The introduction MUST describe your evil character and the place where they live. 

You can use the Snow Queen T4W text and the  Sea Queen teacher text to help you.

Original text (The Snow Queen)

In the beginning, a cruel and vicious mirror was created by an evil magician. It was designed to be the perfect weapon against everything that was beautiful and content. News of this mirror travelled to a frozen land where a wicked Snow Queen lived in an ice palace. Immediately, she commanded her men to take the mirror, send it high up into the starry sky and shatter it so that tiny fragments of the mirror could be spread far and wide. Her plan was to make everyone who looked at it become horrible and ugly. When the job had been completed, she cackled and grinned at what was to happen.

Teacher Text (The Sea Queen) 

In the beginning, a wicked enchantment was placed on all the seawater in the world by an evil sea hag. Anyone who drank it, swam in it or was drenched in it would become horrible and ugly. News of this wicked enchantment travelled to the Sea Queen who lived in the dark depths of the ocean in a coral reef palace. She knew it would be the perfect weapon against happiness. Immediately, she commanded her mermen to collect sea water and boil it so that it became water vapour. She knew that it would soon rain down on everyone that lived far and wide. When the job had been completed, she cackled and grinned at what was to happen.
