Homework
At Stoneyholme we believe that homework offers the opportunity for pupils to develop the key skills needed for independent and life long learning. It reinforces and extends the learning which occurs in school and develops the child’s confidence and self discipline through learning to study independently.
Children who do regular homework achieve better in class!
How to help
We know that you are keen to support your child with their homework so please:-
- provide a quiet place with no interruptions
- ask your child about their homework rather than just insist it is done
- support the child in the methods they have learned in class and don't be tempted to show them your way
Supporting children with homework is important and if done well can promote good learning.
HOWEVER please do not be tempted to do the homework for them, tell them the answers or mark their work.
