Suffixes are a word or group of words added to the end of a word to change its meaning.

Can you see what has happened to the word?

 

That's right, 'ed' has been added because you watched it in the past (even though it was only a moment ago!

 

Let's have a look at a few more examples

 

paint - painting - painted

sleep - sleeping

work - working - worked

When we write in the present tense, 'ing' is added because it is HAPPENING right now.

 

When we write in the past tense, 'ed' is added because it has HAPPENED.
