In Year 1, you learned about the four countries of the UK. Can you remember the names? Here's a clue: one is England.
Well done if you got them all correct!
England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
From the map, you can also see the capital cities of these countries:
London (England) Belfast (Northern Ireland) Edinburgh (Scotland) and Cardiff (Wales)
This week, we are going to read a story about a girl who lives on an island called the Isle of Struay. This island isn't real, but it is based on many of the islands around Scotland, mainly the Isle of Coll.
Before we read the story, let's learn a little bit about the Isle of Coll and see if there are any similarities or differences with Stoneyholme.
In your Blended Learning book, write today’s date:
Monday 1st February 2021
Now write two sentences comparing the Isle of Coll with Stoneyholme using these sentence openers:
They are similar because...
They are different because...
An example could be:
They are similar because they both have a post office.
They are different because Coll has two castles but Stoneyholme doesn’t have any.
Send a picture of your work to your teacher before you go on to the next task.
