English

Over the last few weeks, you've all been using AMAZING adjectives to describe BRILLIANT Burnley and the COOLEST colours.

Today we are going to use two adjectives to describe a noun. When we do this, we create an expanded noun phrase.

An example of this is:

You make me colour bright, red fire engines.

The fire engine is the noun.

We describe it using the adjectives bright and red.

Notice that when we use more than one adjective, a comma is need to separate them.

Can you identify the expanded noun phrase in these sentences?

You make me colour gorgeous, green grapes.

You make me colour beautiful, blue balloons.

Now it's your turn. Use the same sentence opener each time. Write a sentence about each of these animals using an expanded noun phrase in each one.

You make me colour....

elephant

whale

dolphin
