Today we are going to concentrate on imperative verbs. These are sometimes called 'bossy' verbs because they are used in a command like

put on your jumper.

Instructions

Look at the example of a set of instructions below. The imperative verbs are at the beginning of the sentences. 

Here are a few from this picture:

  • fill
  • fit
  • ask
  • put
  • add
Well done if you also spotted a few time adverbials in there like then and the next day. These are used to show you the sequence (just like the numbered steps.)
