The reporting clause may sometimes come in the middle of the reported clause, especially in books.
In other words, who spoke sometimes comes in the middle of what they are saying.
“O no, no,” said the fly to the spider, “kind, sir, that cannot be.”
”Sweet creature,” said the spider, “you’re witty and you’re wise.”
