Our Big Battery Hunt
We all know that paper, plastic bottles, tins and glass can be recycled but batteries can be recycled too!
Watch the videos below to find out how batteries are made
The Green Team leaders went on a battery hunt to find out how many batteries we are using in our classrooms.
Total number of AA, AAA, C and D batteries we are using in our classrooms

We use different batteries in our iPads.
Each iPad has an internal, lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Compared with traditional battery technology, lithium-ion batteries are lighter, charge faster, last longer, and have a higher power density for more battery life.
Total number of batteries we have recycled
1,864
Here are the KS1 Green team leaders counting the number of batteries we have collected in school.
Where can you recycle them?
When your box is full you can take the batteries to your local supermarket or bring them into school and we will recycle them for you.
Don't forget to let your Green team leader how many you have recycled, so we can add them to our total.
The Big Battery Hunt
is a nationwide battery recycling initiative funded by Duracell. Schools across the UK are encouraged to think about the importance of recycling, and then challenged to collect as many used batteries as they can. The aim is for each pupil to contribute to an overall total of 4 million batteries being recycled.
The overall total so far is:
2,179,584
Please email a photo of you recycling your used batteries to Miss Cock or Mrs Ayres using 2Email on Purple Mash and we will share them on the website.
