What Makes a Good Persuasive Poster?
1. A Clear Purpose-
Know what you're trying to persuade people to do.
-
Are you trying to sell something, promote an event, or encourage change?
-
Big, catchy words that grab attention.
-
Make it easy to remember.
-
Use bright colours, interesting fonts, and bold headings.
-
Include images or drawings to help your message stand out.
Use persuasive techniques like:
-
Emotive language – "amazing," "unforgettable," "life-changing"
-
Rhetorical questions – “Have you ever dreamed of walking into a story?”
-
Exaggeration – "The best experience of your life!"
-
Alliteration – "Magical, mysterious, marvellous!"
Make sure the poster tells the audience:
-
What it is

When it’s happening (if it’s an event)

The wind howled through the empty street as Maya clutched the strange, rusted key in her hand. She had found it hidden beneath a loose brick in her garden wall. A small tag was tied to it with string. The tag read only one word: “Library.”
Maya’s heart thudded. The old village library had been closed for years—ever since the fire. Everyone said it was haunted, but Maya wasn’t sure she believed that. She glanced at the key again. It was cold and heavy, and somehow, it seemed to be pulling her toward the dark building at the end of the road.
Taking a deep breath, she slipped the key into her pocket and started to walk.
