Adverbs

An adverb is a word that describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

It often tells us how, when, where, or how often something happens.

Here are some examples:

  • How: She ran quickly.

  • When: We will go tomorrow.

  • Where: He looked outside.

  • How often: They always laugh.

Identify the Adverbs

Underline the adverbs in each sentence and write what they tell us (how, when, where, how often).

  1. Tom shouted loudly at the match.

  2. We will leave soon.

  3. The cat slept peacefully on the sofa.

  4. I always brush my teeth before bed.

  5. She looked everywhere for her pencil case.

Add Your Own Adverbs

Add a suitable adverb to complete each sentence.

  1. The wind blew ____________.
