Thursday 7th May

Morning Work

LC: to think in role as the father/son and to imagine effective warning to use in narrative writing

Let's look at the father and child relationship in the poem.

In your talk partner pairs, label yourselves A and B.

A - the father/mother

What do you want to tell your child about the creature?

Why should the child go to fight the creature?

Why should the child not go?

What effect has the creature had on your village?

What do you want to happen now?

B - the son/daughter

Why do you want to go on this mission?

What reasons will you give your parent?

How has the creature affected your childhood and growing up?

What do you want to tell your parent now?

You are going to role-play this conversation with each other.

Practise your role play with your partner.

We will then listen to other pairs and make notes about

- the advice given to the child by the parent.

Let's add these ideas to the second verse of our plan.

LC: To be able to convert between common units of time.

Complete the RIC.

LC: to locate clues to support understanding through close reading of the text

how much time has passed since the flood?

- how has life changed for Sabryna's family?

- why do you think Sabryna thanked Dia?

- what message do you think the author wants the reader to take away from this story?

LC: To understand where foods are grown, reared, caught and processed.

Can we use our research skills to find out where foods are grown and reared and how some foods are caught or processed?
