· Can a belief be important to someone even if another person does not share it?

Today we are learning about a set of Christian beliefs called the Apostles’ Creed.

The Apostles’ Creed is a short statement of belief used by many Christians. It explains the key things Christians believe about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Christians do not see it as a story, but as a summary of their faith. It brings many Christians together because different churches use the same or similar words. The Creed includes beliefs such as: there is one God who created the world; Jesus is the Son of God; Jesus died and came back to life; people can be forgiven; and the Holy Spirit guides believers. For many Christians, these beliefs are important because they can influence how they live. For example, believing in forgiveness may encourage someone to forgive others. Believing that God created the world may encourage someone to care for it.

The Apostles’ Creed is accepted by Catholics and Protestants. According to legend it was written by the  although this is generally not accepted today.

· Is the Apostles’ Creed a story or a statement of belief?

· Why might Christians want shared beliefs?

· How could a belief affect someone’s actions?
