LC: to evaluate a text and understand how writers create effective action scenes
We are going to test the action toolkit we made!

Look at the model text below.
Let's find and label these action features:
- a blend of action and description
- emphasis of the power and size of the creature
- contrast in size between the hero and the creature
- powerful verbs (For example: race instead of ran/bellowed instead of said)

Label the features from the action toolkit in the story of Theseus and the Minotaur on Seesaw.

Challenge Task
If you complete the annotations on Seesaw, click on the links below and try the Action Toolkit out on these texts.
LC: To be able to convert between grams and kilograms.

RIC
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to explore a hidden world? Deep beneath the ocean, strange creatures glow in the dark and move in ways we can barely imagine. What secrets are hiding down there? Could there be animals we have never even discovered?
The deep sea is one of the least explored places on Earth. It is cold, dark, and under enormous pressure-so who would dare to go there? Scientists use special submarines to investigate, but even they cannot reach every corner. What might be waiting just beyond their lights?
Perhaps one day, you could be the explorer who uncovers these mysteries. Would you be brave enough to dive into the unknown?
R- What do scientists use to explore the deep sea?
I- Why is the deep sea described as mysterious?
C-Why did the writer use the phrase “hidden world”?
LC: to infer characters' feelings from clues in the text
Today, we are going to think about
how characters' actions and behaviour give the reader clues about how they are feeling so we can empathise with them and understand the story better.
What do we mean by empathise?
