You are going to plan for your independent write.

You will write a text to explain the life cycle of one of the following:

Use the model plan to guide you.

Do your best!

The Sudden Storm

The sky was bright and blue when Ali and his sister Amira set off for a bike ride. They followed the narrow path that ran beside the fields near their house. Birds were singing, and the warm sun made everything feel calm and peaceful.

After a while, Ali noticed dark clouds slowly moving across the sky. The wind began to blow harder, making the tall grass sway from side to side.

“Maybe we should head back,” Amira said, pointing at the clouds.

Just as they turned around, a loud rumble of thunder echoed across the fields. A few cold drops of rain landed on Ali’s helmet. Within seconds, the rain began pouring down.

The two riders pedalled as fast as they could towards home.

R- Who went for a bike ride?

I- Why did Ava suggest going back home?

C- Find a word that shows the rain started quickly.

LC: To predict what might happen in a text.

We are going to read this card together and then predict what might happen next.

Now, try these independently:

The Lost Kite

On a windy afternoon, Noah took his bright red kite to the hill behind his house. The wind was strong, and the kite quickly lifted high into the sky. Noah smiled as it danced and twisted above the trees.

For a long time, everything went perfectly. Then a sudden gust of wind pulled the string hard. Noah tried to hold on, but the string slipped through his fingers.

The kite soared higher and higher until it drifted towards a tall oak tree. The string caught on one of the branches, and the kite hung there, fluttering in the wind.

Noah stared up at it, wondering how he would ever get it back.

R- Where did Noah fly his kite?

I- Why couldn’t Noah keep hold of the string?

C- Why do you think the author used the word “fluttering” to describe the kite?
