Complete these sentences using your own ideas.

Similes and Metaphors 

 

 Let's look again at this poem.

Can you spot the metaphors used?

What impression (idea) does the poet want to give us about the moon?

Now, create your own metaphors about the Sun.

Use the categories to compare the sun to.

Write two  or three in your book.

For example:

A person

The sun is a angry toddler on a summer's day, with a red screaming face, over-heated and over-emotional and ready for a nap. (Picture 2)

(The sun and an angry toddler are both red and hot.)

The sun is a warm, welcoming grandma with soft open arms, ready to hug and calm you down after a stressful day. (Picture 1)

(The sun and the grandma are both soft and warming.)
