LC: What is the link between miracles and prayer and why might believing in miracles still matter to Christians today?
With your talk partner discuss and answer:
When people are worried or hopeful about something, what do they sometimes do?
Christians often pray when they are worried or thankful because they believe prayer is a way to talk to God. They might pray to ask for help, to say sorry, or to say thank you for good things in their lives. Prayer can also help people feel calmer and less alone when something is difficult.
In the Bible stories about Jesus, people often come to him when they are scared, ill or desperate for help. They ask him to heal them, protect them, or save them from danger. Christians believe that some of these moments led to miracles- amazing events that showed Jesus’ power and kindness, such as healing the sick, calming storms or feeding hungry crowds.
Because of this, many Christians today still link prayer and miracles. They may pray because they hope God will help in a situation, just as people asked Jesus for help in the Bible. Even if nothing dramatic happens, Christians often say prayer gives them strength, comfort and hope.
