MID-YEAR REVIEW (SECTION B)
Mia opened her school bag and froze. Her lunchbox was missing. She was sure she had packed it that morning and even remembered placing it carefully beside her books. As the bell rang for lunchtime, Mia felt her stomach rumble.
Instead of panicking, she retraced her steps. She checked the classroom, the library, and finally the playground bench where she had been reading before school. There it was, exactly where she had been sitting. Relieved, Mia smiled and hurried to join her friends.
R- Name two places Mia checked while looking for her lunch.
I- Why do you think Mia smiled at the end?
C- Why does the author use the word “froze” to describe Mia’s reaction?
