LC: to round numbers

 Wednesday 17th September 2025

LC: To know what Christians believe about the origins of sin.

What do you know about the word sin?

What do you understand it to mean?

Use WordHippo to find a definition of the word ‘sin’.

Christians believe that God created the world from nothing.

The story of the creation is found in the Old Testament of the Bible.

There are two different versions of the story.

However, Christians do not think it is important how God created the world, as this is beyond their imagination, just that he did.

Let’s remind ourselves of the story.

“God saw the world was good.”

What would a good world be like?

Now let's learn about the second creation story.

VIDEO - Adam and Eve (Genesis 2-3)

Some Christians believe that the story in the Bible is the literal truth.

Some Christians believe the story is a metaphor – a story told to help explain a more complex idea.

The Story of The Fall

(Genesis 3)

The Fall - BBC Bitesize

Literal – What might Christians believe about the cause of sin and temptation in the world today?

Metaphorical – Who/what might each aspect of the story represent?

Now complete this task independently using all the ideas you have gathered.
