LC: To summarise ideas from more than one paragraph.

Tell me what can you see?

Tell me more?

What led you to think that?

Who agrees?

Does anyone disagree?

What comes into your mind when you look at Dad? How is he feeling?

What comes into your mind when you look at April? How is she feeling?

Have you come across any characters like these before?

I can see... tell me more.

I can see... tell me more... I think...

Task: Now in your books, write what has happened so far (up to chapter 6) use your book to help you. Remember you do not need too much detail. You just need to write the most important parts.

Adapted:

LC: To identify producers, predators and prey when using a food chain.

grass, rabbit, fox, owl, caterpillar, bird.

  • What eats grass?

  • What eats the rabbit?

  • Does the fox eat plants?

Talk partners:
“Can you think of a chain of animals where one eats another?”

Key Vocabulary

  • Producer – a plant that makes its own food

  • Prey – an animal that gets eaten

  • Predator – an animal that eats other animals

  • Food chain – shows how energy moves from one living thing to another

    Example:

🌱 Grass → Rabbit → Fox

Explanation:

  • Grass is the producer

  • Rabbit is prey (the fox eats it)

  • Fox is the predator

  • Can the rabbit be both predator and prey?
Yes! (If it eats plants, it’s a predator of plants and prey to foxes)

In your table groups decide whether the animals are prey or a predator or both.

Below is another example of a food chain.

Looking at the pictures below, let's see if we can make 2 different food chains.

  ____________________    →         ____________________      →      ____________________

  ____________________    →         ____________________      →      ____________________

  Let's try some more.

 Your turn.

Using the pictures below, try to find as many food chains as you can.

You can help each other but you all need to record in your books.

Record with words and arrows and not pictures.
