LC: Plan and write an effective narrative based on a known plot pattern.

Independent plan and write.

Ideas for your new characters, problem and resolution. Remember to plan for the features we have been focussing on.

When you write, remember:

LC: To be able to count in sixes, sevens and nines.

Thinking up New Ideas:

How can we think up new ideas?

Let's use some of these ideas to try and solve some problems.

 Remember:

  1. Identify the problem
  2. Come up with ideas of how you might solve it
  3. Evaluate which of those options might be most helpful
  4. Choose an option as a solution
  5. Give the solution a go
  6. See how well it worked - and, if necessary, go around the cycle again

LC: Be aware of privacy and personal boundaries online.

Vocabulary:

Relationship: the connections we make with other people.

Interact: what we say and/or send to other people, how we talk to each other, how we communicate, etc.

Sharing: what details about ourselves we might tell someone else, or decide not to tell someone.

Stranger: someone we don’t know.

Permission: when someone says something is okay to do.Topic

What different types of relationships do you have? (e.g. friends, family, teachers, etc.)

Who might you talk to online?

What is the difference between someone you know online and offline, and someone you only know online?

How might you interact differently with someone you only know online?

  • What kind message did Sam4053 send the character in the film?
  • What was not nice about the second message that Sam4053 sent?
  • How did the character respond to Sam4053’s unkind message? Why was this the right thing to do?
  • What personal information did Sam4053 ask for?
  • What did the character do when Sam4053 asked for this personal information?
  • Why didn’t the character send this personal information to Sam4053?

Feeling safe online.

What kinds of things do you like to do for fun?

What do you like to do with friends for fun?

We are going to create a shared word cloud with synonyms and word words associated with the word ‘safe’ - what does it mean, how does it make you feel?

Think of times in life when you sometimes might feel a little unsafe. How does it make you feel? What strategies can you or others put in place to make these experiences as safe as possible?

For example:

Times when I might feel unsafe - crossing a road.

How it makes me feel - nervous, aware.

What I do to make this as safe as possible - cross at a pelican crossing, cross at an open space.

What about when you are online? When may there be times when you feel unsafe. What strategies could you use to make sure you are safe and can have fun?

Activity:

Create a top tips poster, advising other young people about online relationships.

Here are some that other people have produced. They might help you with ideas.

Spell words in which the y makes an 'i' sound somewhere else than at the end of words, e.g. myth, gym, Egypt.

Review

Show Me

Show me on your whiteboard the words I read.

Learning

Read these words with me:

gym          myth             symbol             hymn              mystery                mysterious

Egypt       pyramid      lyrics                 cygnet

What do you notice about the sound of the 'y' sound in each word?

Where does it fall and how is it spelt?

This is an unusual spelling.

Do you remember the Sticky Word Strategy: Triangle Words?

Watch me practise spelling these words using this strategy
