C - Find the direct speech.
LC: To predict what might happen from details stated.
Yesterday, we looked at making predictions. Can you tell your talk partner what helps us to make a good prediction?
Let's make some quick predictions together on these short sentences.
Discuss with your talk partners what you think might happen next...
- Laura shook her can of Pepsi, she tried to open it straight away. What happened next?
- It was raining heavily outside, John decided to wear...
- Sam loved to eat ice-cream, he found £1 next to the bushes, he decided to...
- Tina had a pet rabbit that she could not trust because he loved jumping. She tried to take him out of his cage... What happened next?
What made you make the decisions for the sentences above?
What do you already know?
Now let's take a look at a longer passage...
Alexander went to his friend’s birthday party and ate a big dish of cake and ice cream. He drank two glasses of juice. After he got home, he ate a lot candy from the birthday piñata.
How did Alexander feel?
For our Independent work today, we are going to make predictions based on what we already know about the story from our RIC:

LC: To record observations on how different surfaces reflect light and describe how shadows are formed.
Let's recap some of the light sources and introduce reflection...
Your teacher will present 6 objects to you. These objects will be shiny or dull (matt finish). In your talking partners, discuss which object will reflect the most and least amount of light. Write your prediction on your resource sheet.

Let’s complete our PLAN as a whole class. Think about what will we keep the same and what variables will we change?
Let's experiment!

Now write down the objects on your sheet starting from the most reflective going to the least reflective.
Under your worksheet, complete the following sentence by omitting the incorrect words:
The objects which reflect the most type of light have a shiny/dull finish.
Now, let's take a look at how shadows are formed:
In your science books, write down one sentence about how shadows are formed.
A shadow is formed when...
