LC: To explore the main and subordinating clauses.

When the toast is ready, the heat switches off and the toaster pops up the toast. 

Before the egg hatches, it is warmed by the sun. 

After the brake pedal is pressed, the car stops moving. 

While the chicken sits on her eggs, the chicks are growing inside. 

Because the heat causes it to melt, the chocolate turns to liquid.

This half term we will be writing an explanation text!

THE CHALLANGE

We need to create a booklet that explains the life cycle of a flowering plant. The booklets will be put in the Global Gardens to inform other children who visit them. 

Let's visit the Global Gardens and make note of the plants they have in there.

Before we write an explanation of the life cycle of a plant, we will need to do a few things. What might they be?

Let's create a plan for all the things we might need to do, in order to write an explanation of the life cycle of a plant.

LC: To be able to read and write length and height in metres and centimetres.

LC: To use observational skills to sketch an image.

William Morris was a Designer, Artist and Poet. He is famous for his beautiful patterns inspired from Nature.
 

His images can be found on wallpapers, cushions, curtains, cups and saucers. 

 

 

 

LC: To reflect on the qualities a good role model possesses.

 

Role models set good examples for people and are looked up to and admired by others. They inspire others, who in turn want to be like them. Role models are not always people who are famous. Good role models become better at what they do and connect with others. 

Let's take a look at two of our keywords related to role models. Let's collectively think of some synonyms to help us to understand what admire and inspire mean.

Inspire - 

You are now going to think of someone that you admire. The person that you choose may no longer be alive. They might have qualities that you admired about them. It is okay to have someone that you admired.

Here are some adjectives that might help you to write about the person that you admire.
