Monday 15th September

LC: To create different lines and marks using a pencil.

Drawing with pencils to create different type of lines, marks.

Looking at ways to change the lines and marks by using differing pressure.

Using different mediums we can change the look of our work. The feel of our work. Changing the marks we make can create lots of interesting textures.

It can change how we see images, art and everyday objects. By the way the light changes the surfaces on objects.

LC: To identify how Quentin Blake expressed himself through his illustrations.

Main

To draw inferences from characters’ feelings

Let's look back at our story board. What tricks have already taken place?

On Friday we read the 'roundabout' trick. Let's read the trick again to refresh our memories (p39-43).

How do you think the children were feeling when they first saw the roundabout?

How do you think the children felt after the roly-poly bird told them it was a real crocodile?

Activity

Imagine you are one of the children in the story on the fair ground. You managed to get away from the Enormous Crocodile and now you are safe at home. You are going to write a diary entry, explaining what happened during your day…

Before we begin, let's take a look at what features a diary entry should include:

Dear Diary,                                                                                                                                                    Monday 15th September

Yesterday, me and my friends went to the park to go and play on the swings. It was a hot sunny day. I couldn't wait to play tag with my friends. We loved playing tag around the trees. We came close to a funny looking tree that was shorter than the rest and it had lots of coconuts on it. So, we decided to have a race and see who could collect as many coconut as they could. All of a sudden, Tom saw a huge eyeball! We were so scared, we ran away screaming! We're scared to go back to that tree!

Let's take a look at what you must include:

First person pronouns

Starting clause

Date

Order the event

Adjectives

LC: To be able to find 10 more or less than a given number using number patterns.

LC: To describe what dharma is and why is it an important part of Hindu life.
