I have had a look through our story, 'The Enormous Crocodile' and I have chosen some speech sentences.
Here are some examples:
“Run away quickly. The crocodile is playing a trick,” shouted the Roly Poly Bird.
The Enormous Crocodile said, “I am so hungry now I want to eat six children.”
The speech is in different places!
What is the difference here?
Activity
Write some of your own speech sentences in your English books.
Use the examples above to help you.
Main
LC: To use inverted commas to punctuate direct speech.
Today we are going to look again at direct speech in our story - 'The Enormous Crocodile' by Roald Dahl.
Let's look at some more examples from the story.
Speech has been used a lot in this story. Why?
I am going to have a go at writing some direct speech for my story, using my character and Humpy Rumpy.
I will add this to our learning wall.
Your turn!
You need to write two direct speech sentences in your English books.
Use your new character and Humpy-Rumpy.
Remember
Capital letters, full stops (or exclamation/question marks), inverted commas and who said it!

LC: To be able to count in fours and eights.
LC: To make predictions about which foods will be high in certain nutrients.

Look at the foods below and order them from the least amount of saturated fats to the greatest amount of saturated fats.
Which food do you think contains the most saturated fat per 100g?

Let’s take a look and see if our predictions reflect what the facts are?
Does anything surprise you?
Are the results what you expected?
