LC: To infer characters feelings
Who can remember the book about the colour monster?
Discuss with your talk partner which colour monster belongs to which emotion.
For example, I think the the green monster is angry. Am I correct?
We are going to be looking at characters feelings in books. To be able to understand the feelings of a character, we have to be great detectives!
A good reader will first think about the characters background and make connections to where the character is.
For example:
Tell your talk partner where you think this girl might be?
How do you think she is feeling?
How do you know?
Let's take a look at another picture:
Where is the girl?
What is she thinking about?
What do you think has happened?
How do you think the girl is feeling?
What clues can you find in this picture that tell you that the cat is missing?
Independent
Using your detective skills, look at the picture and think about where the character is.
Where is the girl?
The girl is...
The girl is feeling...
As a challenge, can you add because to your sentence and explain why the girl is feeling the way she is?
