Friday

To be able to solve word problems involving calculating change from an amount of money.

Let's explore.
Let's learn.

Partner work

Today, we are going to look at posters about different experiences you can have on days out.

What is the purpose?

What is the reason for the poster? Is it to entertain, to share information, to warn or advise you or to explain how something happens?

Who is the audience?

Is it meant for one person? Does it have an individual's name on like an email or a text message or is it for anybody to read? Do you think it is aimed at children or adults?

Let's take a look at one together.

Tony Cragg is a British-born sculptor who was known in his early career for creating colourful collages from ordinary construction materials and household objects that had been thrown away. He found these objects on the streets and in rubbish dumps in West London.

In this artwork Tony Cragg has arranged the picture in a special way to make two shapes. One shape is the artist himself.
Can you see what the other shape is? (You may have to tilt your head to the left to see properly). Can you recognise some of the materials Tony has used for his collage?

Look carefully at these pictures. How are they made? What three words would you use to describe them? Can you spot a tennis racket, a spade and boomerang? What other things can you see?

 Talk to your partner.

What do you notice about the colours and shapes that Tony Cragg uses?

On Seesaw, choose one shape for your collage design. Then choose the colour and shapes of the pieces for your collage.

Can you explain how rules and restrictions keep you safe?

Whilst we don't have a river or beach in Stoneyholme we do have a canal which are just as dangerous.

Leeds To Liverpool Canal Bike Ride Time

  • Low water temperatures cause the body to go into cold water shock.
  • Water can be much deeper or shallower than expected and cause serious harm if jumping in.
  • Steep slimy banks make it hard to get out of the water.
  • Reeds and other plants can get tangled around your legs.
  • Mud makes it difficult to walk even if you can stand up.
  • Litter and waste can trap feet and cause injury.
