Let’s learn.

Let’s try these together.

Turn to page 59 and 60.

Grammar Warm Up

In the middle of the ___, ___ woods was a ___, ___ pond.

Talk to your partner, what adjectives could we use in the sentence

For example

“In the middle of the quiet, green woods was a cool, shadowy pond.”

Remember to choose adjectives that tell the reader something new and clear — not ones that just repeat the same idea.

When we have read the first part of the story, we will use these question starters to find out more information. We will model good questions for you first.

Remember we punctuate every question beginning with a capital letter and ending with a question mark.

Can you reflect on the different ways the humans use light?

How and why do we use light? Why is light important to us?

Let's begin with a story about a frightful night when the light played tricks on a group of friends.

We see things when our eyes receive light from them. Objects like the sun, lamp and candle produce light. Such objects are called luminous objects. When the light from luminous objects reaches our eyes, we are able to see things around us.

We get light from a range of different sources- like a torch or the sun. Although the moon appears to light the night sky, this isn't a source of light. It reflects the sun's light like a large mirror.

In your books write a list of light sources (where we get light from).
