Monday

To be able to understand that multiplication is the same as repeated addition of equal groups.

Let’s look at this problem together.

Let’s learn.

Let’s try these together.

ACTIVITY:

To give opinions and support with reasons.

A strange rucksack has been left in the classroom, lets look inside and see if we can figure out who it belongs to.

What equipment can you see in the rucksack?

Use these sentence openers when sharing your ideas:

I can see…

I wonder…

For example:

I can see a whistle. I wonder if it used to call for help.

Where do you think a person with this equipment might be travelling to?
Would it be a hot or cold region?

How do you know?

Now, let’s take a look at this great explorer.

What do we know from the picture?

What do we want to find out?

Can we use our enquiry skills to ask questions about the past?

What is History?

History shows us how people lived over time, what tools they used, what clothing they wore, what kind of shelters they built, even what they ate.

We also find out more about the most important events that took part in the past and who were the important people in the events that shaped the world as we know it today.

People who study this information about the past are called historians.

History is all around us.

Look out of the window. What is the oldest thing you can see?

To be a historian, you have to act as a detective.

Search for clues about the past and put them together to find out what happened.

Historians pose questions about the past. They examine the available evidence and develop answers to their questions.
As Historians you are going to think of questions you want to find the answers to about this picture.

Remember to start your question with one of these words.
