To be able to compare volume using the terms 'more than' and 'less than', 'full', ‘half full’ and 'empty.'

Revisit and review yesterday's outdoor learning.

Capacity is how much a container can hold when it is full.

Volume is how much space something takes up or how much liquid is actually inside.

Can We Understand What We Are Good At, What We Like and What We Dislike?

Talk partners

  • What is your favourite thing to do at home?
  • What is your favourite game?
  • What makes you feel proud?
  • What is something you find tricky?
  • What is something you are good at?

Lets discuss these questions together -

  • Do we all like the same things?
  • Why is it good that people are different?
  • How would it feel if everyone liked exactly the same things?
  • Can someone be good at different things from you?
The Amazing Me Game
Throw a soft ball to a child. When they catch it they finish the sentence:

• I am good at...
• I like...
• I do not like...

Listen to the book -  Kids Book Read Aloud: The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes: A Growth Mindset Book

Ask the children what their favourite hobby is to do?

  • Who helps you practise?
  • Why do you enjoy that activity?
  • What makes that activity fun?
  • Is it okay for someone else to dislike something you like? Why?
  • Can dislikes change as we get older?

Now it's your turn to draw - what you're good at, what you dislike and what you like on your big pieces of paper.

Finish the lesson by asking -

  • What did you learn about yourself today?
  • What did you learn about a friend?
  • Why is it important to celebrate our strengths?
  • How can we be respectful when people like different things

Can you observe the trees around you and explain how they are different and what living things they support?
