Last week, we went on a tree hunt to identify trees by their leaves. Can you remember any of the names? Look in your Science books to help you.
We know that some trees are deciduous and some are evergreen. Can you remember what these words mean?
Let's take a look in more detail.
Some people think of a tree losing leaves as a bad thing, like if we were to lose money, but for a tree, this is not the case! Trees shred or 'get rid of' their leaves as a way of protecting themselves like when we put a coat on in cold weather.
Trees protect themselves by becoming dormant. Can you say that word? Tell it to your partner.
This means that the trees are less active. They hold onto water and stop growing.
