Thursday

To be able to tell a story based on given number bonds or draw number bonds to tell a story.

Lets make a number story using the picture below!

Lets think

What animals are on the lily pads and how many of each can you see?

Can we make a number bond using that information?

There are 4 frogs. There are 3 dragonflies. 4 and 3 make 7. There are 7 animals altogether!

Lets put this information on our part-part-whole diagram.

Activity time!

Lets create a number story using the picture above but only looking at the flowers!

Think how many pink flowers can you see and how many white flowers can you see?

To orally compose every sentence before writing

Re-read the end of the story (page 26-31).

We are going to create some sentences to explain who helped who.
Let’s remind ourselves of the animals that helped each other.

Help your teacher write a list of the animals for the LW.

We are going to need some helpers for each word in our sentence! (Human sentences, write the words on paper)

Rehearse the sentences using the animals names and the words ‘the’ ‘helped’ ‘ ‘a’.

We are going to choose one of these sentences to write in our books.

We need to say it a few times to make sure it is in our brains!

Now we are going to write another sentence but this time we are going to include the word ‘and’. E.g The frog helped a mole and a cat.

Will research help us to identify physical and human features?

Over the last few weeks, as Geographers, we have been learning about where people choose to settle. The settlements we have discussed are VILLAGES, TOWNS and CITIES.

Each of these places can be described by the features they have.

Physical features are natural and would exist even if humans were not around, such as seas, mountains and rivers.

Human features are made or built by humans and reflect cultures, such as houses, roads, bridges and farms.

Lets check how much we have learned about human and physical features!

What do we already know about the seaside?

Talk with your partner about what you might see if you go to the seaside. We will share ideas and sort into human and physical features.

Lets watch this video and see if we can spot any human or physical features!

Activity time

Now it's your turn to sort pictures into two groups: human features and physical features.

Can we use research to find out how many senses we have, and which parts of the body they link with?

Talk partners.

What are the senses?

Can you name any senses?

How many senses do we use?

Lets do a quiz to see how much we remember from the video!

How would you explain to Harry the Happy Mouse what actions humans use with these body parts?

listen   see   touch   taste   smell

We _________ with our hands.

We _________ with our eyes.

We _________ with our nose.

We _________ with our ears.

We _________ with our tongue.

It’s your turn to draw and label the part of the body which humans use for each sense.

Now it's your turn to complete the activity sheet below.
