Choose the correct spelling of words that have a 'shun' sound at the end.

The 'shun' sound that we hear at the end of some words is spelled in different ways, so we need to remember which spelling to use.

tion      sion   ssion   cian

This might be useful in helping us decide and remember what spelling to use:

The root word magic ends in a 'c' - when we want to add a 'shun' sound, which spelling should we choose?

Your turn:

Underneath each root word are three spellings  - choose and write down in your spelling journal the one that you think is correct.
