LC: To predict what might happen from details stated.

Yesterday, we looked at making predictions. Can you tell your talk partner what helps us to make a good prediction?

Let's make some quick predictions together on these short sentences.

Discuss with your talk partners what you think might happen next...

  • Laura shook her can of Pepsi, she tried to open it straight away. What happened next?
  • It was raining heavily outside, John decided to wear...
  • Sam loved to eat ice-cream, he found £1 next to the bushes, he decided to...
  • Tina had a pet rabbit that she could not trust because he loved jumping. She tried to take him out of his cage... What happened next?

What made you make the decisions for the sentences above?

What do you already know?

Now let's take a look at a longer passage...

Alexander went to his friend’s birthday party and ate a big dish of cake and ice cream. He drank two glasses of juice. After he got home, he ate a lot candy from the birthday piñata.

How did Alexander feel?

For our Independent work today, we are going to make predictions based on what we already know about the story from our RIC:

Independent

We already know that Ivan's little brother has been taken by Starjik. Let's read a little further and predict what might happen next...

LC: To write an effective interview report.

Today, you are going to pretend that you are a Police Officer who is in charge of taking down notes about what the Spider has reported to you.

We are going to pretend that Spider is lying to the Police.

Between you and your partner, you are going to decide who is going to be the Police Officer and who is going to be the Spider.

The Police officer will ask questions to the Spider...

1) Where did you and Fly meet?

2) Why did she come to visit you?

3) What did you do together?

4) How did you two become friends?

The Spider needs to think of lies that he might tell the Police.

Role play the above questions with your partner.

We are now going to write up the report.

I will model what your report looks like.
