Use different sentences forms – statements, exclamations, questions and commands.
Identify different types of sentences.
Today we are going to read through the text and identify words the author has used to join ideas. We call these conjunctions. We have learned about coordinating conjunctions, which join two main clauses, and subordinating conjunctions, which join a main clause and a subordinating clause (which doesn’t make a full sentence on its own.)
Let’s watch to remind ourselves of examples of coordinating conjunctions before we identify them in our text.
Write a sentence from the text that includes a subordinating conjunction.
Talk to your partner. What do children your age need to be kept safe from?
Let’s think about the people need to stay safe from. This might be people we love or friends who say unkind things or leave us out of an activity.
We have rules to keep us safe from things and we also have rules to keep us safe around people such as hold a grown ups hand to cross the road.
We are going to learn some new rules that will keep us safe.
At home we might all have different names for the private parts of our bodies but as scientists we know it’s important to use the correct scientific vocabulary.
Does anyone know the correct name for a boys or girls private parts?
Remember your private parts are part of your body and belong to you so you have the right to say ‘no’ to them being touched.
