Practical activity: Shape sorting activity. Have a range of physical everyday objects of different 3D shapes. Ask the children to try and group them together. Discuss why they belong in the same group, link to properties of the shapes. 

 

Challenge: 3D shape hunt - around the classroom/outdoor area. Ask children what 3D shapes they can see and ask them to explain how they know.
