In 2018, Cape Town had a severe drought, which means there was very little rain for a long time.
The dams became very low, and a day called Day Zero was getting close — the day when the city might run out of water.
The government made new rules to help everyone save water.
People worked together, used less water, and helped the city until the rain came back.
