Remember a double means we have 2 lots of something. 

 

 

What is double 4? 

 

What is double 1? 

 

 

What is double 3?

 

What is double 5? 

 

What is double 2?

 

Composition of numbers to 5.

 

Can you think of the different ways we can make the number 5?

 

 

We already have 4 counters. How many more do we need to make 5? 

 

 

4 + 1 = 5

 

 

 

 We have 2 here. How many more do we need so that we have 5 altogether? 

 

 

2 + 3 = 5

 

 

Practical activity - Can you use the Numicon or tens frames to show different representations of numbers to 5.
