Reading

It is expected that children in Year 3 will read their reading book every night (10 - 15 mins). Reading records are regularly checked in school and books are changed when read. Children have the opportunity to read daily whilst in school and are able to independently choose a book of interest to take home.

The Reading Tree Challenge!

This year we have introduced a new Reading Challenge! Whilst children continue to read and regularly change their home reading books, they will climb the Reading Tree! As they climb further up the tree, they will be able to win a variety of prizes and class Dojo points. Please encourage your children to become involved in home reading as it can have huge rewards, both with their progress in school and winning fantastic new prizes!

Times Tables

By the end of Year 4, children are expected to know all of their times tables and be able to recall them quickly. Therefore, it is vitally important that children in Year 3 make a good start to learning their tables by practising them daily.
