At Stoneyholme we care about our school, our community and our world.
On our sustainable journey over the past few years, we have worked extremely hard to fulfil the requirements of Eco Schools England and have successfully gained both Bronze and Silver Award. We are now looking to achieve the Green Flag Award. We have also achieved Levels 1, 2 and 3 for the RHS Campaign for School Gardening.
We are extremely lucky to have a team of volunteers that listen to the ideas of pupils in their class and suggest ways that we can make small changes that make a big difference. Each class in Key Stage 1 and 2 has chosen an Eco Ranger to represent them for the year ahead. The new team are looking forward to sharing ideas and putting actions into place to create a better environment.
This year's Eco Rangers are:
Together we have created an Eco Code which demonstrates our understanding of the responsibility we have to look after our planet. It is displayed throughout our school so we can be reminded of the values it represents wherever we go.
We have had our first meeting and have begun an environmental review of our school so we can focus on what we need to change over the next year so we can be even more eco-friendly. We will keep you updated with these changes and suggest ideas that you can do at home to help us reach our target.
Wondering what to do with all that spare material?
Have you got a bag of material or any old (clean) clothes that you no longer wear? Well, bring them school and help us raise money for Science equipment.
We are also happy to take those used batteries and pens that no longer work off your hands to help raise money for the school as part of our effort to recycle what we can.
