Early Years Foundation Stage

In the Early Years Foundation Stage, children are taught Literacy though play. Every day the children have a phonics session where they learn new skills such as letters of the alphabet, rhyming words, blending letters together to make words and segmenting words (chopping them up) to spell. They then use these skills to read and write words and sentences and practice them in different areas of the classroom.
